Dosimetry of Microelectrodes Array Chips for Electrophysiological Studies Under Simultaneous Radio Frequency Exposures

Studying the response of neuronal networks to radio frequency (RF) signals requires use a specific device capable accessing and simultaneously recording activity during electromagnetic fields (EMF) exposure. In this study, microelectrode array (MEA) that records spontaneous neurons is coupled an open transverse (TEM) cell propagates EMF. We characterize system both numerically experimentally at 1.8 GHz. Two MEA versions were compared, for first time, determine impact their design dissimilarities on Macroscopic microscopic measurements using, respectively, fiber-optic probe temperature-dependent fluorescent dye (Rhodamine-B) carried out. Results indicate one shows more stability toward changes surrounding environment compared other MEA. Using thermometer, measured absorption rate (SAR) value in center stable was 5.5 ± 2.3 W/kg. Rhod-B microdosimetry technique, SAR level electrodes 7.0 1.04 values are normalized per 1 W incident power.
